once in a while / 3-channel mono, 1-channel stereo CV click-less mute / 6 HP ⇣ Tired of muting with all the drama of a Shakespearean tragedy? Say goodbye to the click drama with our click-less mute module. It's like giving your modules a chill pill – no more dramatic exits, just smooth audio bliss. 1/4 key features 3-Channel Mono Mute 1-Channel Stereo Mute Click-Less Muting based on Vactrols STRIKE Buttons for Performance Mutes LED Indication MUTE or GATE Mode for Channels 1-3 Wrong polarity protection specs & downloads width: 6 HP depth: 35 mm power: 25 mA @ +12V / 14 mA @ -12V documentation videos description / manual ONCE IN A WHILE is a 3-channel mono and 1-channel stereo mute switch with CV control. Any audio or CV signal fed into the IN jacks and taken from the OUT jacks can be muted and unmuted with a latching MUTE button per channel. If a channel is not muted, you can also mute it momentarily with the dedicated STRIKE button. Conversely, you can unmute a mono channel with the same STRIKE button if it is muted (this is not possible with the stereo channel). LEDs indicate whether a signal is being passed. You can also use CV signals to mute channels. Just connect a gate, LFO or envelope to the CV inputs and the channel will be muted from a voltage of about 2 volts. Even if you apply a control voltage to the CV inputs, you can mute the signal with the MUTE (latching) or STRIKE (momentary) buttons. Before soldering the module, you can decide if you want to use one of the mono channels alternatively as a low-pass gate. It's a single resistor you need to change and a mono channel becomes an LPG when a CV signal is patched into its CV input. So if the channel is muted, it will be unmuted again when the CV input is high. Mute mode = CV mutes the signal when it is not muted. LPG mode = CV unmutes the signal when it is muted. The first input is normalized to the other inputs. Therefore, you can also use ONCE IN A WHILE as a 1 to 4 buffered multiple with individual mute switches. ONCE IN A WHILE was designed to provide click-free muting for audio signals, but has become much more performance-oriented with the addition of momentary STRIKE buttons and CV inputs. It was optimized to be used with the VTL5C9 Vactrol. You can also use other vactrols, but then you may get clicks when muting audio. prev Up next

hh / analog hi-hat and noise generator / 4 HP ⇣ HH is a very simple, but handy little module that completes any modular drum rack. 1/3 key features Analog Hi-Hat and Noise Generator Internal Decay Envelope Internal VCA CV Control over VCA Offset CV Attenuator Adjustable Noise Colour: Brown, Pink, White Illuminated ST Modular Logo specs & downloads width: 8 HP depth: 28 mm power: 35 mA @ +12V / 25 mA @ -12V documentation videos description / manual HH is an analog Hi-Hat and Noise generator with an internal VCA and decay envelope. The Module can be triggered by a trigger signal at the TRIG Input. Using the DECAY potentiometer you can open and close the Hi-Hat. The ST Modular logo will flash according to the decay envelope. This may also be voltage controlled with any CV signal at the CV input. The voltage changes the internal VCA offset, but does not affect the decay envelope. The incoming voltage can be attenuated using the dedicated attenuator potentiometer. An LED indicates the current state of the voltage. Additionally you may also change the colour of the noise being generated with the COLOUR pot. Fully counter-clockwise the noise will equal Brown Noise with reduced high frequencies. At noon it will sound like Pink Noise, which is a bit louder at the low-frequency end of the spectrum, and softer at the high end. Almost fully clockwise it will be White Noise, broadly spread across the sound spectrum, sounding like a waterfall. Fully clockwise the noise will be boosted on all frequencies to have a more present noise spectrum. prev Up next

singer / feature-rich delay with extensive parameters / 8 HP ⇣ Probably SINGER is one of the best equipped DIY PT2399 Delays available. It is the consequence of years of development of other delay effects such as DELAY V2 and GRITZNER and now combines new and old functions in one module. Why another PT2399 Delay? Well, because the PT2399 is a very special kind of delay with its own and very unique character we all love and we want CV control over most parameters. In contrast to DELAY V2 and GRITZNER, SINGER was made to explore the boundaries of the PT2399 chip and is able to create all sorts of crazy delay, glitch and noise sounds. It is rather specialized on short delay times, but can create some really nice delay and feedback craziness. 1/4 key features Analog Delay CV Control over most Parameters Two Inputs Internal LFO WET Output Wrong polarity protection specs & downloads width: 8 HP depth: 45 mm power: 95 mA @ +12V / 45 mA @ -12V documentation videos description / manual SINGER has two audio inputs IN A and IN B, whereas IN B includes a high pass filter that attenuates frequencies below 320Hz. Especially for effect sends it is helpful to only introduce a high pass filtered delay effect to the mix. You can switch between IN A and IN B by using the A/B switch (switch MAN / LFO set to MAN) or by introducing a CV gate signal to the A/B GATE input jack. When the CV gate signal is high, only IN B will be routed to the delay circuitry indicated by the IN B LED. It is also possible to switch between both inputs using the internal LFO (switch MAN / LFO set to LFO). This way you can create some really unique delay cascades using two different audio signals. The DELAY TIME can be changed with the large DLY TME knob. The range is set to be too large for the PT2399 chip to handle. Consequently turning the knob from 2 o´clock on clockwise will create crazy glitches and noise artifacts. Cleaner delay times can be achieved by settings from 7 to 12 o´clock. The delay time can be changed via CV at the TIME CV input jack. A dedicated DLY CV attenuator let´s you decrease the amount of CV that is being applied. Additionally an internal LFO can control delay time if nothing is patched into the TIME CV jack and the DLY CV knob is turned to the right. The LFO rate can be set with the LFO RATE potentiometer and the LFO cycle can be reset by a CV gate or trigger signal that is patched to the LFO RESET input jack. You may choose to use a triangle or square wave LFO with the help of the TRI/SQU switch. The LFO is normalized to delay rate and feedback via the dedicated attenuators if nothing is patched to the corresponding CV input jacks. The LFO rate LED only indicates LFO waves controlling delay rates after attenuation. The LFO is also normalized to the A/B input switch if the MAN / LFO switch is set to LFO. A DRY/WET potentiometer sets the amount of delay effect that is applied to the OUT jack. On top the level of the wet signal can be changed with the IN attenuator. Hence if the DRY/WET pot is fully clockwise and the IN attenuator is fully counter-clockwise, no signal is audible at the OUT jack. FEEDBACK may be changed with the help of the FEEDBACK knob and can also be controlled via CV at the FDBK CV jack and the dedicated FDBK CV attenuator. If nothing is patched to the FDBK CV jack you can also route the internal LFO to control the feedback amount if you turn the FDBK CV attenuator to the right. VCA CV provides the opportunity to control the level of amplification of the wet signal via control voltages such as an envelope or an LFO. The WET output supplies the pure delay signal at any time. werner / mutable instruments "ripples" filter adaption / 10 HP ⇣ Actually its a Franz´d Ripples, if you like. Just like Franz, Werner is a filter with an internal mixer and LFO. It is not as buttery as Franz, but still one of the best filters around. 1/3 key features Analog Filter 3 Filter Outputs: Low Pass 2-Pole, Low-Pass 4-Pole, Band Pass 2-Pole VCA for Low-Pass 4-Pole Internal LFO with three Waveforms: Triangle, Inverted Triangle & Square LFO Reset, LED indicating LFO rate, LFO normalized to Filter Circuit Apply three LFO waveforms at the same time Attenuator for each LFO Wave or external CV 3-Channel MOOG CP3 transistor based Mixer Volume control for each Mixer Channel Wrong Polarity Protection specs & downloads width: 10 HP depth: 38 mm power: 55 mA @ +12V / 55 mA @ -12V documentation videos description / manual Actually its a Franz´d Ripples, if you like. Just like Franz, Werner is a filter with an internal mixer and LFO. It is not as buttery as Franz, but still one of the best filters around. It has all the functionality of the original Ripples module, but also provides a 3-channel MOOG CP3 transistor based mixer and an LFO with Triangle, Square and inverted Triangle outs, that are normalized to CUTOFF and Q. These connections are interrupted as soon as external CV is plugged into the corresponding CV inputs. The small trimmer potentiometers CV/FREQ and CV/FM will attenuate the amount of the LFO voltage affecting the filter frequency. CV/FM is a bipolar attenuverter (positive and negative). CV/Q will set the amount of CV affecting the resonance. If you want to switch off the LFO, set CV/FM to mid position (12 o´clock) and CV/FREQ and CV/Q fully counter clockwise. Connections: LFO Triangle Wave --> CV/FREQ, LFO Square Wave --> CV/FM, LFO Inverted Triangle Wave --> CV/Q There is also an LFO RESET input in order to restart the LFO cycle. This way you can synchronize the CUTOFF movements to a rhythmical pattern. Released under cc-by-sa-3.0 license: Pichenettes Mutable Instruments prev Up next
- LFOR
lfor / digital lfo and stepped random generator / 4 HP ⇣ Combining a digital Low Frequency Oscillator with a Stepped Random Generator, this module offers three distinct voltage outputs in the form of Pulse, Triangle, and Random waveforms. The LFO functions as both a voltage and trigger source, while the Stepped Random feature can be seamlessly looped for continuous operation. LFOR_BACK.jpg 1/3 key features LFO with 3 Waveforms Triangle, Pulse and Stepped Random LFO Rate potentiometer Voltage Control over Rate LFO Reset Stepped Random lockable to 16 or 8 steps Random Voltages normalized to LFO Rate Pulse can act as Rythm Generator Wrong polarity protection Skiff friendly specs & downloads width: 4 HP depth: 28 mm power: 25 mA @ +12V / 20 mA @ -12V documentation videos description / manual The LFO provides three voltages in shape of Pulse, Triangle and Random. It can be used as a voltage and trigger source. The frequency of the LFO can be changed using the Rate potentiometer on top. The LED is indicating the current speed. The Rate of the LFO may be voltage controlled using the Rate CV jack. The small potentiometer acts as an attenuator. Additionally the LFO cycle can be reset via a trigger signal at the Reset jack. The Triangle output provides a standard triangle waveform. Random supplies a randomly stepped voltage at LFO rate. This random voltage is normalized to the LFO CV in creating some interesting random voltages on the other outputs. This connection can be interrupted by inserting a patch cable to Rate CV. Using the Random Lock Switch it is possible to lock the random steps to identical patterns of 16 (mid position) or 8 (down position) steps. If the switch is positioned upwards it is completely random. Patching a voltage to RNDM CV will give you CV control of the Random Lock (switch must be in mid position). Any voltage above 3 volts will produce random steps, any voltage below 4 volts will lock the random out to a pattern of 8 steps. Pulse out is not a typical pulse wave you would expect from an LFO. It is rather a rythmical trigger producing one long pulse at the start of the cycle and a short pulse at the end. This way and by the normalized random voltage (if the CV attenuator is turned clockwise), you will have a wide range of random or locked pulses to trigger VCAs or sequencers. A simple AVR-programmer is neccessary to complete the build. Nevertheless it is a very easy build with only 37 parts in total. prev Up next

- Stereo Total
stereo total / mono to stereo converter, stereo width controller and imager / 4 HP ⇣ Mono: the original black and white movie. Stereo: the epic 3D blockbuster. Let's face it, mono might be the classic, but stereo is where the party's at! STOTAL_BACK.jpg 1/3 key features Mono to Stereo Converter Stereo Width Controller Stereo Imager Buffered Input Multiple Two Separate Stereo Processing Blocks Wrong polarity protection specs & downloads width: 4 HP depth: 25 mm power: 15 mA @ +12V / 10 mA @ -12V documentation videos description / manual STEREO TOTAL is a Mono to Stereo Converter, Stereo Width Controller and Imager. It consists of two building blocks. The first block A is a Stereo Simulator that creates a stereo signal from an incoming mono signal. This is done by splitting the mono signal in two separate signals, passing the left through an R-C network to reduce mid range frequencies and the right through an operational amplifier in differential mode to obtain an output as a difference to L. Knob A STEREO DEPTH controls the depth of stereo, but also places the signal within the stereo field. Because the signal is filtered, mid range frequencies will be changed as you turn the knob. Additionally the incoming mono signal is multiplied (buffered) and a lossless copy is available at the MONO OUTPUT jack in order to allow further mono signal processing. The second building block B is a Stereo Width Control that allows you to change a stereo signal from mono to wide stereo. This is achieved by summing both signals L and R to create a mono signal when knob B STEREO WIDTH is turned fully counter-clockwise and by splitting them via complete negative crosstalk, when the knob is turned fully clockwise. Fully clockwise the stereo signal contains no centre image at all. Initially the module was designed to be used with mono signals only, but you may also use both building blocks separately. You can convert a mono signal to stereo with block A while you can also change the stereo width of another stereo signal with block B. You can also independently convert two mono signals to stereo using both blocks at the same time (you need to patch a dummy cable to the right channel of stereo input B to disconnect both blocks). A mono signal to block A will run through both blocks when nothing is patched into the block B stereo input jacks. prev Up next

pyxis / adaption of mutable instruments "plaits" / 8 HP ⇣ PYXIS condenses all of Plaits' functionalities into a more compact hp footprint, while further pushing the principle of "simplicity first" to unparalleled heights. 1/3 key features Please check out the original module by Émilie Gillet which is an all time Eurorack classic already Illuminated Pyxis Logo Wrong Polarity Protection specs & downloads width: 8 HP depth: 28 mm power: 50 mA @ +12V / 5 mA @ -12V documentation videos description / manual In order to easily tweak and change the sounds there are four main potentiometers that will change Timbre, Harmonics, Morph and Variant, which is any possible mixture of OUT and AUX. Freq has been put onto a small trimmer potentiometer to avoid any accidental change in pitch. On the bottom of the panel you will find all necessary jacks to control Pyxis via CV. Timbre, Morph and Freq have dedicated attenuverters to adjust the incoming CV signals. Yeah…but…where are the LEDs? Instead of always directly jumping to chord mode and watching the LEDs change, isn‘t it much better to listen and trust your ears to choose the right sound? Tweak the four potentiometers, change the program with the two buttons (Sound and Percussion Mode) and listen to the wide range of sounds Pyxis is able to generate. Let yourself be surprised what is hidden behind the programs you would usually not choose following the LED indicators. - Gritzner
gritzner / pt2399 delay with two switchable inputs and internal lfo / 8 HP ⇣ GRITZNER Delay is a special kind of module that is able to make all sorts of weird delay sounds, from chorus like effects to total destruction of the original signal. There are no boundaries for your crazyness here. Though the two switchable inputs and the LFO reset always make its output fit into a rythmical pattern of your patch. 1/3 key features PT2399 Delay Two Switchable Inputs, one High-Pass-Filtered Internal LFO for Input Switching Internal LFO for Delay Time Changes LFO with Attenuator and Reset Delay Time CV Input Skiff friendly Wrong polarity protection specs & downloads width: 8 HP depth: 28 mm power: 50 mA @ +12V / 30 mA @ -12V documentation videos description / manual GRITZNER is a short delay with two individual inputs that may be activated alternativley either by hand or with a gate signal. IN A is a standard audio input whereas IN B is a high pass filtered input. Frequencies below 320hz will be filtered out which is quite handy for some delay settings. If the MAN/LFO switch is on the left you can switch between both inputs manually using the A/B MAN switch. If the MAN/LFO switch is in the right position an internal square wave LFO automatically switches between both inputs according to the LFO range set with the help of the LFO potentiometer. Alternatively you may patch an external gate signal (from a sequencer for example) into GATE A/B in order to switch between inputs. The Delay itself is a classic PT2399 delay with its very special touch and a delay time ranging from 30-190mS. It has manual controls for the Delay Rate (going beyond the ICs operation range), Feedback and Wet. The delay rate can be voltage controlled with an external signal or with the help of an internal LFO. You can choose between a triangle and a square wave LFO and you may attenuate its signal with the LFO ATT attenuator. On top the LFO is resettable via the LFO RST input in order to get delay changes in a rythmical manner. The LFO rate can be adjusted with the LFO potentiometer. prev Up next
